Fall Trend Alert

Yesterday while I was out shopping, I noticed that many of the fall trends are in the brown color family. From rich browns to camel colors, these trends pose one slight problem to my wardrobe and maybe to yours also.

What shoe color goes well with brown?

The Nude Pump!

Celebrities have been known to rock the nude pumps because it elongates the leg and creates the illusion of an endless leg.

Why You Need A Parasol

More and more we hear to stay out of the sun. Lather your skin in 75 SPF sunblock to avoid aging your skin prematurely. The sun causes skin cancer!! Oh and please don't go near your dermatologist if you have spent a second tanning while on vacation. Okay, Okay... we hear you! Want to add some pizazz to your everyday wear? It's called a parasol and it's the sexiest item a woman can own.

A couple of years ago, while I was still in high school, I became obsessed on finding a fabric parasol. You'll find the paper parasols all of the time but as usual I wanted to be different. I had to find one no one would have. For a year I searched high and low to find the one I wanted. One day while browsing the antique store I seemed to live in, there she was!!! A beautiful, cream and lace parasol. I didn't care the cost. She had finally found her way to me. Luckily the tag was only $20 - a steal if you ask me.

My beautiful, cream and lace parasol has been on many outings with me. She has been on Phish tour, my husband's baseball games and at the lake. Whenever I feel the sun is trying to hard to burn my skin, she comes out to visit. Though not nearly as attractive as she once was, she still holds a very special spot in my heart and in my car for her sun protection.

You need a parasol for sun protection, heat protection and because you deserved to look cute and classy! It's time for you to buy.
(Oh, the girl in the pic is not me but this is a spiting image of my parasol.)

What's your clothing expiration date?

Recently on a trip to the beach, while my husband was working from the house, I went shopping. I wanted to pick up a sand dollar and a starfish for a craft project I am working on. The perfect place to purchase these items are in tacky gift shop you normally avoid going into. I quickly made my way through the store searching for the items I needed, wondering aloud at some of the items for sale in the store. Do people actually decorate there home with pirate ashtrays, blue glass dolphins or picture frames that scream OBX?

With my sand dollar and starfish in hand, I was ready to escape the trap when my cell phone rang. It was my mother. As I spoke with her on the phone advising her against going for the crap camera or the imitation iPod for my oldest daughter's birthday, I wandered into the clothing section. Like a diamond in the rough situated in between loud T-shirts and shorts with Outer Banks posted on the butt, a dress. A cute dress at that. I had to try it on. After I tried it on, I had to buy it. I had to wear it.

And I wore it... For three days, I lived in this dress until, maybe... it could stand on it's own? I know, disgusting. I did wash it, but when it was ready to wear again, it found it's way back on my body.

Do you ever get away with wearing something more than one day? Like, you put it on at night and since you didn't go anywhere or see anyone you knew, you wear it again?

What's your clothing expiration date? You think it's gross to wear the same outfit twice?

What's Your Signature Sunglasses Color?

My husband tells me I am obsessed with sunglasses. He's right. I am. There is something about sunglasses that fascinate me. With so many styles and options, they can totally change your look at any given moment. As an accessory, what woman doesn't have enough sunglasses?

Recently I purchased a new pair of white sunglasses because for one, I love white sunglasses and for two, they were too cute pass up. Whipping out my debit card for my new gem, a sale was occurring stating if you purchased two pairs, you would save a certain amount of money over buying just one. You guessed it, I caved. Red sunglasses are popping up everywhere. On celebrities, in magazines, on me...

For years I was the tortoise shell sunglasses girl. The biggest and the roundest were going to be found on me. Finally I was tired of this look and ventured out of my tried and true. I've tried black and white, pink and purple. Now it's the red.

Do you have a signature sunglasses color or do you play around with them?

Do you tilt your face a certain way when being photographed?

Looking through my pictures, I notice something about the way I usually tilt my face when I am being photographed. I usually tilt my face to the left. I was glancing through Facebook this morning and I noticed a trend. It seems most people have one certain direction they tilt their face when being photographed.

Do you do this? Maybe this is your internal beauty monitor telling you which way your face looks the best?

The Floppy Hat and Your Skin: Classy or Tacky?

As you may know, the Kentucky Derby was this weekend. Women all around dressed in their "racing best." I'm liking this look. It's classy and skin protecting.

Recently I have ran out of contacts and being slow to making my eye doctor appointment, I have been sporting my eyeglasses. The thing about eyeglasses, especially the ones that do not transistion in the sunlight, is you squint while outside. Squinting to me is one of the main reasons for wrinkles when we age, other than the sunlight is allowed through the unprotected glass. Mainly I wear huge sunglasses while outside to protect the sensitive skin around my eyes but lately I have been faltering on this. This has lead me to purchase a huge floppy hat to protect my face from the sun.

What do you think, even if you wear sunglasses outside, will you be wearing a large floppy this summer? They are cute, protective and when the economy falters accessories seem to pop up more. I'm sporting mine.

How about you? Are hats classy or tacky?
